Beyond the Peak: This journey is more than just a climb; it's a deep immersion into the heart of Africa. The expedition begins or concludes with an unforgettable multi-city experience across Kenya and Tanzania, adding a rich cultural and wildlife dimension to your adventure.
With Dasa Holidays' commitment to safety, expert local guides, and carefully paced ascent planning, this is the ultimate opportunity for adventure seekers eager to conquer new heights and stand atop the continent’s crown jewel.
DAY 1: Arrival in Arusha & Expedition Briefing
Upon arrival at Arusha, you will proceed towards Moshi (the base town for Kilimanjaro).

You will review all personal and group equipment. Any necessary rental equipment can be acquired (at your own cost).
Meal: Dinner.
DAY 2: Moshi to Machame Camp (Ascent Through the Rainforest)
Drive from Moshi to Machame Gate (approx. 45 minutes).
After registration, begin your trek through the dense, winding trails of the rainforest. The trail is often wet and slippery at lower elevations.
The trek is a steady uphill climb on a ridge until you reach Machame Camp.
Focus: Gaining altitude and traversing the cloud forest boundary.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
DAY 3: Machame Camp to Shira Camp (Moorland Traverse)
Leaving the glades of the rainforest, the path steepens, ascending through the moorland zone.
You will cross the valley along a rocky ridge and head west toward a river gorge before arriving at Shira Camp on the Shira Plateau.
Focus: Dramatic change in scenery; entering the high alpine zone.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
DAY 4: Shira Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp (Acclimatization Day)
This is a critical day for acclimatization. You will ascend east up a ridge toward the iconic Lava Tower (known as the "Shark's Tooth") at 4,650m / 15,250ft.

Focus: Essential acclimatization and high-altitude testing.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
DAY 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (Conquering the Barranco Wall)
The day begins with the challenging scramble up the steep face of the Barranco Wall. This segment requires careful climbing and is exhilarating.
After conquering the wall, the path continues along a ridge to the Karanga Valley and then up to Karanga Camp.
Focus: Technical ascent of the Barranco Wall and steady climbing.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
DAY 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (Summit Base)
The steady climb continues to the desolate Barafu Camp. You have now completed the southern circuit, offering dramatic views of the summit cone from various angles.
Upon arrival, you will set up camp, rest, and complete all necessary preparations (gear, water, layers) for the early morning summit attempt.
Focus: Early dinner and preparation for the midnight summit bid.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
DAY 7: SUMMIT DAY: Barafu to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
Midnight Ascent: Begin the most mentally and physically challenging part of the trek between midnight and 2:00 AM. Ascend through heavy scree toward Stella Point on the crater rim.
Sunrise Reward: Stop at Stella Point for a short rest and to witness one of the most magnificent sunrises you will ever see (or from the summit for faster hikers).
Uhuru Peak (5,895m): Continue the final 1-hour ascent to the summit—the highest point in Africa! Celebrate your achievement.
Descent: Immediately begin the long descent, stopping at Barafu for lunch. Continue down through loose gravel to Mweka Camp.
Focus: Reaching the Roof of Africa and safely descending.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.
DAY 8: Mweka Camp to Gate & Return to Arusha
After a final breakfast on the mountain, continue the descent down to the Mweka Park Gate.
